Maternity Wards
We have single, 2-bed and 4-bed rooms available for
maternity patients. Each ward has a nursery of its own.
Confinement food is served at the postnatal
wards for mothers who request for them. Longan drinks
and ginger water is also served.
Free parentcraft sessions are available
to guide you on bathing your baby, caring for your baby's
cord, breastfeeding and sterilizing bottles during your
hospital stay. These teaching sessions can also be viewed
at your leisure in the comfort of your room as they
are aired on channel 17 of the in-house TV system. The
viewing hours are between 9.00 a.m. to 8.00 p.m.
Breastfeeding is a learned art, rather
than a reflex, new mothers often have many questions
about the correct way to breastfeed. At Mount Alvernia
Hospital, our lactation consultants make daily rounds,
except on Sundays to give personalized one-on-one assistance
to new mothers to educate, guide and support them in
their new maternal responsibilities. Get off to the
right start in motherhood – speak to our lactation
consultants during your stay here.
Outpatient breastfeeding consultation
is available for mothers who have gone home and still
face problems with breastfeeding.

Neonatal Intensive Care Unit
(NICU)
What if your baby is premature or is born with medical
problems? In such cases, the baby is transferred to
our well-equipped Neonatal Intensive Care Unit [NICU]
with a capacity of 16 cots. Here a team of highly committed
and experienced nursing staff work closely with the
specialists to provide nursing care to the babies.
Kangaroo Care, the practice in which
parents hold the infants skin-to-skin for long periods
of time is a programme available at our NICU. It is
a way to share warmth and natural closeness.
