Mount Alvernia Hospital operates two pharmacies
– a Main Pharmacy, and the Retail Pharmacy. Together, the staff at these
pharmacies are responsible for assuring that our patients receive the appropriate
medication prescribed by their doctors.
Main Pharmacy
Located at the ground floor next to the Business Office, the
Main Pharmacy is responsible for:
Dispensing - To the inpatients and the discharged
patients, including the supply of all the ward stocks. Main Pharmacy supplies
medicine to all the patients in Assisi Home & Hospice, including the daycare
and home care patients.
Purchasing - All pharmaceutical supplies
for the hospital, including the items for the Retail Pharmacy, are purchased
and processed here.
Drug Information Service - Most of the Reference
Books, guidelines and package inserts are filed here. Medical staff who need
information on certain drugs can direct their enquiries to the Main Pharmacy.
Retail Pharmacy
The Retail Pharmacy is located near the 24-hour Walk-in Clinic
and Emergency Department (Unit #01-1C at Mount Alvernia Medical Centre A). Being
more centrally located in the hospital, the Retail Pharmacy serves the needs
of the patients from the various Specialist Clinics in Medical Centres A &
B.
Besides filling prescriptions, there are also a wide range
of over-the-counter (OTC) products stocked for the needs of patients/customers.
Customers do not need a prescription to purchase these products.

• OTC/Pharmacy only medicine for minor illnesses
• Health Books & Educational Books
• Children's Educational Books/Toys
• Baby Products, eg. feeding bottles, nappy rash cream
• Breast Feeding Products, eg. breast pump, milk bag, breast cream
• Formula milk and nutritional products for adults
• Surgical items, eg. sterile gauze, cotton wool, dressings
• A wide range of vitamins
• Nebulisers, Blood Pressure (BP) set, digital thermometers, thermoscans
• Gift Sets
